Intention-Manifestation Success Story

Published by admin at 12:02 am under BlogHer, Goals, Personal Development, Purpose, Writing

Ladies (and gents, if you’re out there), prepare to have your mind blown…

Do you remember the Community Experiment I started on July 1? The idea was that I (and any of you who played along) would set an intention to achieve something by July 31. At the end of the month, we’d check in and see what had manifested in our lives in response to that intention. I thought about setting an intention to manifest $1 million…

…but I decided to stick with something more realistic and believable. My intention was to secure a paid writing assignment unrelated to my full-time job by July 31, 2008.

Funny story.
When I was at BlogHer 08, I met the Local Content Director for the Chicago Examiner. Their website, examiner.com, is starting local websites in cities across the country, including Washington, DC (where I happen to reside). I told her a bit about my website, and she said she’d like to see some writing samples, which I sent to her on Monday. I guess she liked what she saw, because she referred me to the DC coordinator for a paid position as the DC Women’s Examiner. I just submitted the paperwork to seal the deal.

I know! Does that blow your mind or what? Color me convinced!

This didn’t happen by magic–it was definitely the result of a series of actions on my part (registering for and attending the conference, talking to the Local Content Director & following up with her), but I think it’s too much of a coincidence that I got this offer THIS MONTH, which just happens to be the month I set an intention to find a paid writing assignment.

Maybe I will set that $1 million intention after all…

Did you set an intention? Have you seen any results?

    Wow, congrats!

I used to really focus on that technique, and I believed it helped some, but ultimately if my goals included things i couldn’t control, the “intention” thing didn’t help much.

But glad it works for you!

    chills.

and I so believe in this and yet have hit a ROADBLOCK (insert multiple sighs here) on my own secreting/visualizations.

    SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!

Very cool! Congrats to you and your new gig, I didn’t play along in this instance but I do manifest little things in my life more often than not.

Go Jen! (can I say I knew you when…?)

That is so unbelievably awesome!!! Jen, for real, I’m so happy for you. You certainly did take steps to make this happen, but I think the manifestation played a part as well. If you hadn’t been serious about finding a paid writing position, there were many steps along the way where you didn’t have to follow-up. Keep us updated about this site and when you’ll be writing. :)

I need to start implementing that tactic.

Woo Hoo!! If anyone could do it, I knew it would be you! I should have jumped on board when you sent out the assignment, but I suppose August 1st is just around the corner…

Ahh you stole my line… I was gonna say something about setting your goal for the 1 million. However, congratulations on the paid writing assignment that’s awesome. My goal in 30 days is simply to finish my website.

Congratulations on the paying gig. That rocks. I totally believe in Law of Attraction. I can’t explain it. Most of it makes no sense to me. But when I do it, it works. I’m at the point where I’m afraid not to do it. Anyways, fabulous blog (and Style section pic!). Those examiner.com people are savvy folks!

  15. […] As I mentioned last week, I’ve been offered and have accepted a paid writing position. (By the way, today is the final day of the Community Experiment. Any results to report? Email or comment to let me know!) I’m extremely excited about this opportunity, and I absolutely cannot wait until the administrative boxes have all been checked and I can get started with the actual writing. It feels so good to know that I’ll be getting paid to do something I love! […]
