I got tagged!

Published by admin at 11:39 am under Miscellaneous

JoLynn at the Fit Shack tagged me to participate in this meme. I don’t usually participate in memes, but this one touches on personal development and health/fitness, which are two of my favorite topics!

Four Jobs I’ve Had:
1. McDonald’s cashier
2. Cocktail waitress
3. International trade specialist
4. Defense contractor (current)

What are four ways you know you are living your life’s purpose?
1. I’m writing, and writing is an integral part of my life’s purpose.
2. I’m learning. By researching and writing articles for this website, I learn something new every day.
3. I’m helping others–inspiring them and motivating them to find their own true purpose (or at least I sincerely hope that I am!).
4. I have goals. I’m making plans that will carry me closer and closer to my true purpose in life.

What are four things you do to take really good care of yourself?
1. I write every day–whether for my blog, for a creative project, or in a personal journal.
2. I get plenty of sleep.
3. I take a Flintstone’s multivitamin, vitamin C, and calcium every day!
4. I get regular exercise.

What are the four events that have most formed how you live your life today?
1. My first marriage. God, what a disaster (but what do you expect when a 17-year old marries a 29-year old drug addict?)! It definitely made me a much stronger person.
2. Being in the Navy. Military service gave me the discipline I needed to get where I am today.
3. Studying abroad for two years. I learned more about myself and the world than I ever thought possible!
4. Meeting my husband. My relationship with him has healed a lot of old wounds and shown me the true meaning of love.

What are four things you do to keep your motivation up to work out and eat healthy every day?
1. I blog about my eating & workout plans. This helps to keep me accountable.
2. I set performance-related goals for myself, like to run a marathon or do 25 pushups.
3. I run with my husband–much more fun than running alone.
4. I think about having kids. I want to be the healthiest, strongest role model I can possibly be when my husband and I have children!

Name four people who have been the most influential in motivating you to change your eating and exercise habits:
1. My sister. Since having my niece in March 2007, she’s run two half-marathons, a full marathon, and a handful of 5Ks. If she can do it, I can do it!
2. My friend Florence. She’s an absolute machine when it comes to strength training!
3. Angela Stokes. Her blog prompted me to include more raw food in my diet.
4. Stephanie Qilao. I love her practical, no-nonsense approach to health and fitness and her candid honesty about her own struggles with eating disorders.

What are your four top reasons for staying off refined sugar and white flour?
1. They trigger me to binge!
2. They cause an energy spike followed by a complete crash. I don’t need that in the middle of a workday (or any day)!
3. They’re empty calories that could be used for nutritious whole foods.
4. They have a very detrimental impact on my running performance.
List four ways that blogging has helped you attain or maintain a higher level of health and fitness:
1. It keeps me accountable–once I share my goals, I feel encouraged to achieve them no matter what.
2. It forces me to be honest with myself about what I’m doing (or not) and why.
3. I get such wonderful support from readers and commenters!
4. I feel a responsibility to be a positive example for young women who might stumble upon my blog.

You’ve been tagged!
1. Cafe Kel
2. Aleta
3. Sisters Sassy & Honey Bunch
4. Cynthia

You’re definitely an inspiration, Jen — have no doubts about that!

I liked your reasons for blogging. Writing online definitely helps to keep me accountable, too. :)

I’m going to have to think about these…some I’m not sure of the answer. Yes, you do inspire me and help me to keep thinking outside the box.

I’ve never been tagged before. Lordy!

Ummmmmm, I’ll have to do some thinking.

Also, your blog actually gave me the courage to start my own. I love this place…you have NO idea. :)

    Hi Jen!

I’m so glad you posted this, loved reading what you shared! I rarely do these types of posts either (been about a year) but I decided to do this one - it had a positive message. And, I can see how the things you’ve been through in your life have made you a stronger person! ;)
