Day 13 of Month 359
My husband and I went to the DC 101 Chili Cookoff today for the first time in the many years we’ve lived in the area. Meh. It turned out to be more of a crowded beerfest than a chili cookoff. And people, I was there for the chili. WON’T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILI???
Ahem.
Anyway, here’s a shot of the arena (note: by arena, I mean large parking lot) where the event took place.
The people you see in the foreground are standing in the ridiculously long beer line. It was out of control. My husband and I stayed long enough to eat overpriced hot dogs and try a few of the chilis, then we left and went to see Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which was HILARIOUS. A lot of full frontal male nudity in the movie, which doesn’t really have anything to do with chili (but it is wiener-related).

Funny! We don’t to see Male frontal very often, was it any good? Personally, I find a penis pretty funny looking. Just plain weird.
how is the contest story coming? I keep meaning to ask.
I used to go to that when I lived near DC. Ah, I see it hasn’t changed at all!
I had to laugh. Picture this: Media covering the event of the day ~ Jazz Fest in New Orleans, music bands playing, crowd is still in full swing even though it is pouring raining, people sitting on the grounds under an umbrella (or not) with a beer in their hands. What is it with beer?
It’s nice to know New Orleans isn’t the only place where the beer lines are out of sight!
[…] morning, went running together, and came back and made breakfast. We walked downtown to go the DC Chili Cookoff. We met some friends and hung out there for a few hours. It wasn’t really our scene, so we […]
