Muddling Through

Published by admin at 12:28 pm under Miscellaneous

I must warn you in advance that I’m totally incoherent and exhausted right now. It’s been a rough 24 hours. Let’s see, where to begin…

I’ve been doing pretty well with 6WBMO. All of my meals this week were on plan with the exception of eating dinner out last night, which had been scheduled for months. (A close friend wanted to take me to a nice restaurant for my birthday. It was a HUGE indulgence!!) I felt guilty about eating such an extravagant dinner, and I was anxious and disappointed in myself as I drove home. I kind of felt like a failure, and all I wanted to do was crawl in bed and hide under the covers. I’m kind of melodramatic that way.

I noticed that something was wrong with my husband as soon as I walked in. I could tell that he was upset just from looking at him. He tried to talk to me, but he couldn’t seem to make the right words come out–it was just gibberish. He also had a headache and a blind spot in his vision, and he couldn’t understand written words. Knowing about his family history of brain aneurysm, I totally freaked out. I took him to the emergency room around 9:15 last night.

Two CAT scans and countless neurological tests later, we found out that he was fine. It turns out that the language processing problems (which are called aphasia), the visual disturbances, and the headache were all caused by a migraine. They told us to have a follow-up appointment with a neurologist and assured us that my husband would be fine. Huge sigh of relief. We finally got home around 5:30 am. We slept until about 10:15, and now we’re both at work. (He feels absolutely fine!)

As you might imagine, the whole episode kind of put things in perspective for me. In just a few minutes, I went from pouting because I wasn’t perfect to being absolutely terrified that something serious was wrong with my husband. Now I just feel grateful. (And tired.)

So… now I’m going to pick myself back up and keep trucking on with my various projects. Here’s where I stand:

  • 6WBMO: I slept through breakfast, but ate an on-plan morning snack & lunch and am back on track for the day. I’ll shuffle my workouts around so that I have today off–I desperately need to rest! I’ll still get all 5 of my fat-burning workouts and both body sculpting sessions done for the week. No harm done.
  • Picture a day: I’ll post pictures for yesterday and today this evening.
  • 21-Day Makeover: I’ll start my new routines on Saturday morning instead of starting this morning.

I’m going to log a few more hours at work, then it’s home to bed for me!

I knew something was wrong when we didn’t see a post from you yesterday! I was worried and first site I went to was to see how you were doing. I can’t imagine the worry and fear that was racing through your mind. I’m glad he’s OK!

    Check out this product: http://www.sinusbuster.com

It’s actual pepper spray that you shoot up your nose to relieve headaches and migraines.

I have it, and yes it burns like you can’t believe, but it really does work. Capsaicin seems to work to clear up the sinuses and stuff. The inventor’s story is on the website. He suffers from cluster headaches, which are frightful.
