Day 10 of Month 359
I’m backdating this picture to yesterday (I took it yesterday, but with all the excitement, I didn’t post it until today.)
Internet, meet Fidel.
Fidel is a peace lily. I bought him in the spring of 2004 when I’d only been living in DC for about 8 months. I’ve known him longer than I’ve known many of my friends. He has the same resilient spirit of a certain Cuban ex-dictator. I once received a phone call from my roommate Eric that my cats (not Bad Cat and Mittens–they’re my step-cats from marriage) had turned Fidel over in the floor and chewed all his leaves. I rushed home from work with emergency potting soil and replanted him.
He lived, but he hasn’t bloomed since.
