Self-Esteem Week!

Published by admin at 12:04 am under Personal Development

I’d like to try a community project, and this is my call for your participation!

What I’d like to do is dedicate next week to self-esteem. I’d love to have a few of you write guest posts to share your perspectives. If you’re interested in writing a guest post, or if you have an idea for post you’d like me to write, leave a comment or send me an email and let me know! I’ll be traveling this weekend, so I may not get back to you immediately, but I will be checking email and replying at least once per day.

Here are a few self-esteem topic ideas:

  • Teaching self-esteem to our children. Have we gone too far, or not far enough?
  • Repairing self-esteem after abuse or trauma.
  • Self-esteem and body image (weight, eating disorders, etc.).
  • How sports (or exercise, or weight lifting, or running, or “fill in the blank”) can improve self-esteem.
  • Consequences of low self-esteem (fear of failure, feeling “not good enough”, anger, feelings of helplessness).
  • How low self-esteem affects relationships.
  • Self-esteem and spirituality.
  • Relationship between low self-esteem and addictive behaviors such as overeating, using drugs/alcohol, smoking, gambling, shopping, etc.
  • Techniques to improve self-esteem.
  • Alternative methods for developing self esteem (e.g., hypnosis).

If you write a guest post and have a blog or website, I will prominently feature and link to your site in the title and body of the post. If you don’t have your own blog, I’d be happy to include links to a site you’d like to highlight as a helpful resource.

I can’t wait to hear your ideas!

Sounds exciting! What a good topic conisidering it’s hard to have good self-esteem with summer/warm weather right around the corner…at least for me, I become overly judgemental of myself!

Love the idea! I’m especially interested in the relationship between self esteem and body image. And thanks so much for the link about having too much self esteem- such an interesting topic.

I might be interested in writing a guest post. I was just discussing this in respect to how we beat ourselves up trying to make others like us or approve of us when we haven’t stopped to think long enough on whether or not we actually like them. In my case, I was discussing my crazy inlaws with some friends, and how I used to obsess over getting them to like me, until I finally realized that I don’t always like them.

Let me know if you are interested in something like that.

If you’re still looking for volunteers, I’d be interested in writing something on self-esteem and spirituality.

I’d be interested in your project. It sounds interesting. Self-esteem and confidence is a niche area of interest for me. I believe they are essential to an integrated, healthy, abundant life. One reason that self-esteem is very often overlooked and ignored is because most people are so busy hiding behind their masks that they deny it is an issue. Their low self-esteem created the mask in the first place! I think healing our intrinsic confidence is important for our optimum health and overall life experience. I would also be interested in self-esteem and spirituality.
