Weekly Goal Support Group Membership Drive
I originally posted this on Sunday, but I’m reposting it today because I finally have the forums working (read on for more info)! I hope you’ll join in the weekly goal support group. If you’re already participating, drop by the forum and leave an update. There’s also a link to the forums in the right hand sidebar.
One of the most important things you can do to facilitate achieving your goals is to find support. Want to lose weight? Join Weight Watchers. Want to quit drinking? Attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Want to write a book? Join a writers’ mutual critique group. Sharing your goals with others is an excellent way to get support and encouragement. Stating your goals in a public forum also adds the element of accountability. All in all, it’s a great way to boost your goal-achieving efforts.
Based on an excellent suggestion from Leah, I’ve added a new feature to Semi-Charmed Wife (along with the excellent redesign my husband did yesterday–LOVE IT, baby!). In my right-hand sidebar, you’ll find a link labeled “Forums“. What I’d like to do with the forums is start a weekly goal support group.
Every Monday (or at any point you want to start–feel free to jump in for this week!), we can all log in and post our goals for the week. You can post any type of goals from organizing the kitchen cabinets to finishing a knitting project to losing a few pounds to doing some creative writing. After you post your initial goal, you can check back in every day to update everyone on your progress and offer advice, encouragement, and suggestions to others. You have the option of creating an account for the forum using the “log in” link in the right-hand sidebar, but you are also free to post as a guest.
I’m really looking forward to having your support as I work toward my goals, and I’m looking forward to hearing about your goals and supporting you however I can. Be sure to stop by and post your goal!
If there are any additional forum topics you’d like to see, send me a quick email and I’ll add them.

I’m not sure it’s working. I tried to post a reply, and it didn’t show. Then I started a topic, which shows up, but the message does not.
I’m posting my goals in the Comments until my husband can get the forums working for me. Here’s what I’d like to accomplish this week:
1. Write at least 20 pages
2. Do 30 minutes of exercise at least four times
3. Do 10 minutes of meditation at least three times.
My goal for tonight is to get my upstairs cleaned, vacuuming and the bathroom. I also need to listen to one item of marketing training. I may also update my business card while listening.
Tomorrow and Wednesday, I need to figure out my website. I just purchased a hosting package and need to get a site working.
Good idea. My goal is to run 3 times this week and to run at least 2 miles each time. Not a marathon but I’m a novice so I’m happy with 2 miles
I finished the cleaning and got the marketing training in. Not the business cards, though. Tonight, I want to work on the biz cards, also start playing around with creating a brochure. Listen to another marketing training. Over this week and next, I will be brainstorming on people I can network with to do brochure/ biz card exchanges, my brochure goes out with their package intro materials and vice versa. This will be for the engaged couples portion of my business.
Great job, Leah! It sounds like you’re making a lot of progress and that the ideas are flowing fast and furious.
Yesterday was a disaster for me, and today is bad as well. I’m sad to report that I didn’t do any meditation or exercise, and likely won’t until tomorrow (but I should still have plenty of time to reach my goal by Sunday). I did get 6 of the 20 pages of writing done, which is awesome! If I keep doing 3 pages a day, I should exceed my goal by the end of the week.
How’s your goal going, Sassy?
Ran 2 miles Monday, sucked ass this morning but at least I got up and I did go one mile. Its SO much harder to run when I’m really tired (I was up late) …maybe I should try for 3 miles to make up for the measly one… hmmmm.
Great job on the writing!! 6 pages is good! I’ve written the first part of my anon submission.
ooooh! That’s a good idea! I must remember to come here and do this!
